Firefighters battle fire at Maple Street apartment building |

GLENS FALLS — 4 people today ended up displaced by a three-alarm fire at an condominium building at the corner of Maple and Oak streets.

The simply call came in at about 6 p.m. for a report of a construction fireplace at 165 Maple St. Large smoke could be seen coming from the rear section of the multi-unit building.

A single of the people, Kaylee Phillips, said she had fallen asleep and awoke to somebody banging on the doorway telling her to get out.

The smoke appeared to be coming from the roof line and a firefighter could be seen pulling down boards to expose flames.

Glens Falls Fireplace Lt. Ric Stafford claimed about 16 firefighters ended up on the scene. They experienced the hearth beneath management in about a 50 percent-hour, but there was substantial overhaul. The hearth was in the ceiling in that rear bed room.
