Security guards patrolling apartment complex find wandering toddler, unattended baby

ST. MARYS, Ga. – A pair of stability guards who had been patrolling the grounds of a St. Marys, Georgia, apartment complicated are credited with coming to the help of two small children — a baby and toddler.

Protection guards David Tillman and Jonathan Corridor mentioned that late Wednesday night time while on foot patrol inside the Cumberland Oaks Residences, an strange sound caught their attention.

“We listened to a minimal girl crying in the darkness,” Corridor reported.

“We went browsing for in which the sounds of this little one had been coming from,” Tillman included. “We shined our flashlights and she was wandering close to, and when we walked up, she ran to us and questioned in which her momma was.”

Each safety guards reported they looked about and observed the doorway to an apartment broad open up.

“Myself, my sergeant, the youngster and a neighbor went inside the condominium and observed the condominium was totally vacant,” Tillman stated. “It looked like almost nothing was in there, then my sergeant and the neighbor observed another boy or girl that was more youthful in age on the ground.”

Investigators reported the kid on the floor was a 1-yr-aged baby who had been still left unattended. The safety guards explained there was no food in the apartment and that the mom and dad of both of those children were nowhere to be observed, so they identified as the police.

When officers arrived, they conducted an crisis removal of the kids and took them to the law enforcement station where by they had been held in protective custody. Tillman and Hall stated the moms and dads returned to the apartment and explained to law enforcement they remaining to go get foods.

Christina Denny, 23, and Carl Jones, 32, were both arrested and charged with little one abandonment and youngster abuse.

As for the two stability guards credited with saving the children, this incident is a little something that hits close to home.

“As a mother or father myself, I just cannot visualize leaving my little ones by itself like that,” Corridor reported.

“From a professional standpoint, we cannot be psychological about it. But from a parental standpoint, it filled me with absolute disgust,” Tillman said.

The two children are now in the custody of their grandmother.
